He certainly leaves a legacy of great movies.
The Sandlot, Star Wars. Hunt for Red October

He had a way to make lines memorable.

A once in a generation voice. I liked his role in Red October. He proved the truth of the old saw, "There are no small parts. There are only small actors."

My personal favorite role was Terence Mann in Field of Dreams. Lot of star power in that flick, like Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe Jackson and Burt Lancaster as Dr. Archibald "Moonlight" Graham. But Jones stole the show with this:
