What do you TOP GEAR fans think about Richard Hammond's comments about BMW in regards to his new show?

I have to say that in 1994 when I first went to the Skip Barber High Performance Driving School they used 3 Series BMW's and I have to say that I was impressed at the time. Like the S, it would do almost anything that you asked it to do.
In 2001 I went back for a refresher with a long time friend of mine, mostly to get a chance to drive a Viper RT (450 HP/ 450 Ft #'s of torque). To this day, it makes me want one, or a Corvette Z06. In addition to my beloved (high reving S) which is in my DNA as a former two stroke motor cycle road racer. Even my third car had a 6,500 RPM red line back in 1969.
Do you have any comments about his point of view?

What I always look for on video's like this is a date. Is there one? If so, I didn't see it. No matter. Personally I would definitely have a 3-series BMW in my garage if my +1's back would have accepted it. My testing was done 5 or 6 years ago but I loved it for a sports sedan! I ended up buying the Audi A6 because it 'worked' for her and it 'worked' for me but as great as it rides, handles, etc., I would have preferred a BMW 3-series for the sheer fun of it. Best small sedan IMHO that I've tested. Kind of like the Porsche Cayman, best affordable (so to speak) sports car that I've tested. It wasn't heads and shoulders above the S2000 but in my back-to-back testing it edged it out in every run.
I should add I don't care for the current looks of the BMW's. And, I'd definitely want to take the Audi''s stable mate at the size for test run today because they really do have 'game on' when it comes to being on a roll.

I have a 2010 335D (E90 series) and his comment is about the new version (F30 series), but I have told many people that the BMW is the best overall car I have owned. It is not the most reliable, nor does it handle the best of any car I have owned, but when I walk into the garage, it is the car I want to get in for everyday use.
I love driving the S, but I could not drive it every day - the rattling, buzzing, crashing over bumps would drive me nuts after a couple of days.
The 335 is quiet, handles great, has great brakes, and gets awesome fuel mileage for a vehicle that performs like it does. I am going to have to give it up in January next year, and I am all ready beginning to feel sad about seeing it go.

I purchased my first BMW, an X3, 3 months ago. Now it is not a sedan but the DNA is there, For an SUV it drives like a sports sedan with good power and decent mileage. I drove it to Naples, Fla. and it was more comfortable than the Lexus I traded in. Very supportive seats and great luggage space. I took my bike, clubs and luggage and it all fit. I got an invite to their high performance driving facility in No. Carolina and was thinking of going. You get to drive various models with an instructor and they pick up the hotel bill.
