It was set up as breaking news so I thought it was too quick to be on CNN or any other news place since they want to confirm details before airing.

Yeah avoid the rumor mill until you see it from a reliable source. I remember an internet rumor about Fidel Castro dying like 4 years ago. I instantly went to all the big news web sites and found out quickly about a "fake" news story about Castro's death. Disappointment ensued.
