Vito has taken some "before" pics, so I'll post them soon. Looking for completion in February. Have to see tonight how long we'll be without a functioning kitchen. I'm hoping they can work around the refrigerator, pull it out from the wall, so we can have some food in the house, even if it is cold food. I do have an old stand-alone microwave, so can use that.
Deb, we were without a kitchen about six weeks. My refrigerator was moved into my living room. We bought a single burner hot plate kind of thing, and a small microwave and set it up on the dining table which was also moved into the living room. (I think there's a pic at the beginning of this thread). Rick had done a lot of cooking previously and had frozen the meals. We hardly ate out any more than we usually do. If you aren't changing the floor, I would think the contractor should be able to work around a refrigerator.

Good luck with the renovation.

^ Yes, we met with the designer last night and it will be 4-6 weeks without a kitchen. I didn't realize he wants to tear out a couple of walls, so that is a bit more work. Starting in mid-Feb until the end of March. I'll post the "before" pics as we get closer. It is really going to be spectacular. I just remembered my crockpot, so will be using that alot more while we wait.

It's almost like camping.

We started this project in February! I can finally post a couple near completion photos. For example, we still need to install the backsplash.

The kitchen

The family room

Last week we had landscapers out - 4 guys for 4 days, 11 yards of stones, 47 hostas, several dogwoods, etc. Here's a shot of one of the flower gardens. Most of the work they did is already buried in leaves and today its snowing. We are going to be as surprised as anyone next spring to see what comes up where as we left the layout entirely up to them.

Dave, looks fantastic! The French doors and exposed beams in the family room look really inviting.

Looks nice, Dave...I know you are certainly glad to have the kitchen done, after all the hassle.

Looks warm and cozy.

Those recessed lights. Were those the ones you had to move a whole car in order to get them installed?

You remember that. Yes.

BTW, here's a landscape shot I took a couple minutes ago out the window...... it's way too early for this stuff.

Thanks for the positive feedback everyone.

Now that the kitchen is coming together I decided the time had come to pick up another four oak chairs to go with the eight we bought twenty-five years ago for the kitchen from a small shop called the Oak Factory. I tossed a sample chair in the wife's wagon and drove to the small town about an hour away only to learn they closed the doors two months ago. How's that for timing.
