Default Remember to check your basics!

Taking the S on a long trip? Just taking it out of storage for the new season? Always check the basics. You can do it yourself and it is easy.
1. oil
2. coolant
3. brake and clutch fluid
4. tire pressure
5. spare tire pressure
6. tire condition
7. drips on the floor
8. battery electrolyte
9. washer fluid
10. windshield wiper condition

I just checked mine and three of the 10 above needed attention. Any one of them can result in an unpleasant trip. Some can result in catastrophe. I needed to top of the oil (not much, less than half a quart) discovered my coolant is below the low mark (I will try to have it changed before I leave for SF as it is now past due for a change) AND I needed to fill the spare tire. The spare was down to 20 pounds of pressure. Not good for a donut.

This check is no substitute for regular maintenance, but it will help avoid a high percentage of roadside problems. Good luck out there.

Don't forget to charge your camera batteries or put in fresh ones if you plan on taking photos. Same thing for your walkie-talkies.

Wish I were taking the S, but we will be in the +1's car. Have to go back to my mom's on Sun and take my bro to the airport from there. Safe travels, everyone!

Got my new inspection sticker and replaced my coolant. That should be good for the next 10 years.

Check you lights, particularly your tail lights, brake lights and turn signals. Make sure they're all working.

Adjust your emergency brake cable.

Adjust your throttle cable. Shouldn't be too much play. Its a real easy adjustment.

Might be a good time to change your air filter and cabin filter.

For those of you that don't drive your S2Ks for extended periods, can you recommend a good battery trickle-charger that wll keep the battery 'full' but not overcharge it? Thanks.
