Default Reject sticker a moving violation?

My beater failed and I'm wondering what is the penalty for having a reject sticker (loud exhaust) that is beyond the 60 day fix it time limit. Specifically would it increase my insurance? Who has experience with this?

It may not be a moving violation, but I think it could be a something that does affect your insurance, AND if you get stopped, I'd bet the police have the option to have your car towed.

Ask your insurance agent to be certain.

I'd bet it invalidates your registration.
a reject sticker is the same as no sticker or an expired sticker.
used to be a 25 buck fine but that was thirty years ago.
But it was a moving violation then and that does go against your insurance.
I earned that little tidbit directly.

and I think Lainey's right, if the cop is feeling particularly nasty he can call the tow truck for an unsafe vehicle.

Thanks y'all. I posted in Vintage as I wanted to hear responses from those with actual experience rather than the random thoughts of a twenty year old. And yes, Cape Cod is a giveaway as to what state I'm talking about. And I guess I was trolling for the cop that used to chime in now and again. He may be in the N.E. forum. So it looks like I'll have to avoid getting stopped. Anyone with a cloaking device or a shoebox full of twenties?

Hey, lots of folks come to Vintage for wisdom. Not sure they get it though.

Come back often.

The NE guy with the info you need goes by the screen name Hard to Top.

If you are looking for a cop, just keep driving and you'll probably find one.
