I hope a whole new market opens up of engineers who will hack into your cars system and make the options permanent, like increased performance. It’s your car. If you want to make changes to the system, it’s your right to do so.

there would be interesting warranty issues if you muck with the power management systems.
Fo rthat reason i suspect it might be a while, but of course that doesn't mean folks won't try.

When I had a 2007 SL550 I took the instrument cluster out of the dash and removed the little metal disc that made the dinging sound when you didn't have your seatbelt on. Ah, peace and quiet. I always wear my seatbelt, but I was tired of that dinging sound till I got it on.

^ Our Volvo is very quick to ding when you've started it about the seatbelt, quiet annoying. The Land Rover will only ding if you're moving without clicking it in, far more reasonable in my opinion.

Our Tacoma will drive you mad if the seatbelt is not engaged. Normaly no biggie since we always wear them on the road. But, our shop is down a hill from the house so typically will just drive down to it (has its own driveway) and right before you get down there is when it goes nuts lol. It will let you go a little ways but then starts beeping, then starts beeping even faster

I checked our CX-5 today and you can hit the mute button and the radio stays muted. There is no ‘Off’ button that I can find!

On my Subaru Impeza it would disable cruise control if the seat belt was unlocked. I hated that feature as I would try to remove a jacket or vest on some highway driving when I got too warm, but the car would disconnect cruise control. It might be wrong of me to try and remove clothing while driving, but hey that's how I roll, been doing it for decades, Subaru must have known there were people like me out there.

On my 17’ WRX if the check engine light is on the cruise control won’t work.
