i did have a SNL moment about this sort of thing.

Phone rings, " hi we have been trying to contact you about your car's current performance!"

There are so many reasons I love my old F-150 and this ransom crap is just another reason.

> First off is simplicity. Only features are A/C, cruise control, power windows/door locks/seat/mirrors.
> Split 60/40 front bench seats with “cloth upholstery”, as nice looking and comfortable as new after 25 years. Plus a second row bench seat that folds flat.
> AM/FM stereo, cassette player, plus factory CD six-disc player. Yep, still play cassettes all the time!
> Tow package with upgraded radiator, fan cooling, alternator, all prewired and factory installed. A must with my 12’ Honda powered rowboat. hahaha
> 4.6L Triton V8 that gets 17 to 18 mpg on highway.

I don’t need or want any of the new features. In fact we’ve turned off half of the ones on the wife’s CRV.

I have been researching how to turn the radio off so it doesn't come on when you start the car the next time. This is on the wife's new Mazda CX50. Seems there is no way, unless you turn the whole system off, where your screen is blank.

I never paid much attention to that. I'll have to see if the same thing happens in our CX-5.

I wonder if this isn't tied into a gov regulation since the backup camera is now mandated as standard equipment and is displayed on the radio console.

I did look at https://shop.mbusa.com/en-us/connect...n-Increase/709
which is merc's offering for more power. I noticed it is only on the lower power models.
Interesting way to address buyers remorse for not getting the next model up.

Jerry, if I were government regulations then the system would probably come on when you started the car. But once you turn the system off, it stays off.
