Question for my liberal vintage friends concerning federal progams
Currently, we have Social Security, Free Education, Welfare, Prescription Drugs, Medicare, farm subsidies, Unemployment, art funding, and the list goes on. We have 50% of workers paying no taxes save FICA.
Democratic leadership have campaigned on shifting more of the tax burden to the rich, and have stated that the current government programs are not enough. Whenever an attempt is made to stifle these programs by Republicans, they are accused of "not caring about children, the poor, or the elderly." And that's putting it nicely.
My question to liberals is what exactly IS enough entitlement? What exactly are American Citizens responsible for in their individual lives?
We Conservatives always accuse Liberals of not stopping until we're Communist, and all areas of self-responsiblity is shifted to Government, and we are called "rediculous"
So, Liberals, genuinely, where should it stop? And I mean specifically. None of this "until we're all equal, or until the rich pay their fair share" What IS their fair share? Where should we, as a nation draw the line? I will not argue any comments, although, I might ask questions.I've just never heard an answer to this, and I truly would like to hear your thoughts.

All I know is between the wife and myself we brought home 93k this year and uncle sam took over 20% of it. God only asks for 10% so what makes the Fed think they are entitled to more than God?

Last I heard, the actual numbers are that half of our population (50%) only pays a total of 4% of the yearly income tax take. Pretty close to nothing, if you ask me.
