Did a little more research last night. Some of the "better" places seem to have a minimum stay of 5-7 nights in high season, and of course, those prices are higher.

Did anyone who went (Gene?) have difficulty getting just a few night's accommodations? Should we plan on staying in two separate areas, or just stay in the middle and work our drives/sightseeing from there? I guess we are looking at five nights, if there is enough to do/see.

How busy is this area? We've never encountered any real crowds on our trips to Nova Scotia, and I don't want to feel like we're fighting the traffic/crowds on Cape Cod.

^^^If I remember correctly (after all, it's been almost 4 years!!), I had to try several places before I could find a place to stay. I don't remember encountering any minimum stay requirements, but maybe that's why I had trouble finding a place. As far as crowds, I don't remember the traffic being bad at all, and we were there in the middle of summer. It's nothing like the Cape Cod traffic we encountered at the Nor'easter.

Here's some info on the ferry and PEI in general, in case you haven't seen it.

IMO, I think 5 days may be too long to stay. But if you do go, like I said before, I would find a place centrally located near Cavendish or Summerside, and explore from there.

Thanks, Gene.

We wanted to get there on previous trips and never had time. We don't mind staying put, for a few days, but don't want to get bored, or spend all the time just driving around. Need to a bit more.

Gene, at the other end of the scale how short a time could you spend on PEI, one night or two or could you go over just for the day?

We spent 2 nights. I wish we had spent one more for another day of sight-seeing.
