[QUOTE=Legal Bill,Jan 28 2011, 10:16 AM]Sports are just as bad in that regard, but the commercial numbers are staggering.

Gene,

Almost all of those fish are taken from the eastern population. Members of the western population are reported to travel across the Atlantic and the two populations overlap in the mid Atlantic. Some say the two populations do not interbreed, but I know much less about the science than I do about the market and the regulations. Those reports that I have read indicate that much more could be learned about their migratory and breeding habits. But the huge reduction in the population seems to be a fact disputed only by the fishermen.

They are a bunch of hippies I know, but I donate.

Lainey if you like the scenery, you may want to check out an artist named Sandy Waddlington. She has done a lot of painting on the island and I picked up a couple at local galleries. "Barns Prince Edward Island" and "A Passing Storm" hang in my bedroom. (prints of course, not originals)

Tourist sport fishing was hardly the problem...
I'm well aware of the fact, nor did I state or imply the contrary. In fact, quite some time ago, you asked me to look into the matter for you. As I recall, I told you that the impact from sport fishing on the Northern Bluefin population was probably minimal. It's commercial fishing with its floating processing plants that are the primary culprits. And I am also well aware of who the main offending countries are. However, I won't get into that here, as I don't wish to compound my original hijack of Lainey's thread and have it end up in the Politics forum.
However, with the population of NBFT being what it is, recreational fishing of the species places a further and unnecessary burden on that population. Pointing to commercial fisheries and stating their behavior is far worse is not a justification for continuing to allow recreational fishing of a species with such reduced numbers. I fully appreciate your position, as I enjoy fishing myself and I know how much fun fishing for BFT can be, but I've given it up along with fishing for sharks and billfish.

And, yes, most of the time(summer time)you really won't need AC;can be warm during daytime, but night time is another story.
We're good. I didn't take it that way at all.

Lainey, we were thinking of going to PEI on our trip. My father's family was from St. John NB and I had a great uncle who used to live on the island. My concern is getting the S on and off the ferry. Any views on that?

We've taken the S on a couple small ferries with no issue. They also have that new bridge so you can drive over if you wish. I'm not sure of your route, and how much time the ferry would save you.

I've not done much research yet.
