I recall a guy in Advanced Infantry Training getting a sunburn bad enough to lay him up and then getting an Article 15 (if I remember the numbering sequence correctly).
They layed the "defacing government property" thing on him. From what I remember of the guys who were in training with me, some were pretty defaced when they got off the bus.

I do not know the true fact surrounding Corporal Tillman. That said I'll opine to say that some Sargent will lose a stripe or get an Article 15 and some company grade officer will lose his career over this, because in their misguided way they attempted to honor and respect the memory of this American hero. Just a guess of course, but sssssoooo very common among tight knit groups like the rangers and special ops. The lack of integrity and embarrassing consequences always result in unfortunate consequences for such well-meaning individuals. I'd prefer to be wrong.
