Default point & shoot camera

My Nikon Coolpix camera is getting old, the autofocus is shot so I wanted to look into the new Nikon Coolpix L830. The L820 got rave reviews but the 830 has a better zoom, video, autofocus and some other features. The camera can be set to various modes to capture any photo ops and automatically controls lighting, etc. I like that as I am not the most creative photographer. Cost is $280 which is far less than an SLR and it is,for me, easier to use. I prefer taking pix with a camera over a iPhone. Any suggestions?

I love the new Panasonic Lumix ZS25 I bought a month ago. I got it at Costco and am very happy with it. I paid $200 because Costco had it marked down $50 but now it's priced even lower at $170. I've been using a Nikon Coolpix S8000 but I like this one much better and won't be using my Nikon anymore.

It Features:
16.1 MP, 20X zoom, 3" LCD, 16 GB Card and Case, Full HD Video, 24mm Ultra Wide Lens, High Sensitivity MOS Sensor

I buy nothing but Canon.

My DSLR's are all Canon, and up until just recently my parents were using a Canon PowerShot from 2007 that took amazing pictures. At one point they bought a Sony point and shoot which turned out to be complete junk, so they returned it and kept using the PowerShot. Only reason why it's still not being used, is my mom wanted to step up to a DSLR - so again I went with Canon.

I was told when I got into photography to stay within either Nikon or Canon, nothing else.

I still like my Nikon Coolpix. But I'm not taking many photos. My avatar pic was taken with it.

I've got a couple of Nikon Coolpix and I like them both. They are great to throw in your pocket and in the console of the S.

I plan on buying the Coolpix L830 tomorrow. I have always had Nikon cameras due to their outstanding lens quality and ease of use. Canon is also very good. I used them when I worked in the Quality profession and they always performed exceptionally.

So, what'd you ask our opinions for?

I like to know that as well. BTW Patty I been very happy with my Panasonic DMC-FZ18 for several years - great zoom and lightweight. Somehow, it got damaged so not all the functions work as they should.

To get some feedback on various cameras out there. I didn't realize there was a time I had to conform to. I just wanted to get some opinions on the coolpix and other cameras. BTW, I decided to hold off on getting anything right now.

My wife has the same camera and she loves it. It also has a reasonably fast frame recovery and flash cycle times.
