Pay Off Your House?
#61
OK, what about those who aren't taking cash to pay off their mortgage, but just have reached the end of the term, i.e. 20-25 years?
Are folks suggesting those folks go back into a mortgage? Borrow the money and do what with it? Not the stock market? CD's aren't paying. Sure you get a tax write off on the interest, but is it worth the expense of the mortgage? How much do you actually net by having that write off?
Sure you are sitting on equity, but is there anything wrong with that?
Those are questions each has to address for their own situation. Our preference was to be DONE with the mortgage, and not have that bill hanging over our head in retirement.........if we ever retire.
