Default Paint Protective Film

I am asking here because so many of us have had our cars for several years. For those who had PPF (like Expel) installed, are you happy with it?

I have read in other places that while seams a pretty much invisible when first installed that after awhile dirt, grime and other things like wax can get stuck in the edges.

Any input on people’s experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had Xpel installed about 10 years ago, Jim and never had a problem. Installers roll the film over any edges and I never had any problems with the PPF at all.

I was wondering about having my S clearcoated? I’m not crazy about the films that I have seen and I want to keep it original for as long as I can but the paint isn’t going to hold up forever. Has anyone done this?

I have ceramic coating on my 2015 Honda Crosstour, 2017 Acura NSX and 2025 BMW X5. Is that what you meant to say? I love it. It makes getting the grime off much easier and the paint is easier to keep clean. I'm really glad I did it on the X5 because that is my daily and it gets dirty more than the other cars.

I also have PPF/Clear bra/XPEL on my 2005 NSX, 2007 S2000, 2017 NSX and 2025 BMW X5. It is great for lessening rock chips. I didn't do it on my 2017 Pilot and it had tons of rock chips. That's why I decided to do it on the BMW after replacing the Pilot with it. Professional installers are the way to go with it. They do a much better job. My S2000 had it and the bumper lip clear bra was replaced after the lip was repaired after I hit a road gator. They did a crummy job on the clear bra. It was originally one long piece and they used three pieces to cover it. The BMW was done at the dealership because it was already in the price. The seam shows where it quits on the front of the hood. I never had that before. On my NSXs I have to look and feel for the end of the film. If it starts looking showing issues I'm going to have it redone with a professional.

I think it depends on the installation and if you take care of you car. My honey has it on his Acura TL and it was redone. It had dirt in the edge that was pulling up in his hood. His car is left outside in all weather including snow and isn't taken washed often. My cars are all garage kept and they show no signs of the clearbra/PPF/XPEL giving up.

No I mean clearcoat. I have seen in magazines and on TV where someone will buy an old car with original paint which is sometimes worn in spots and they will clearcoat the body of the car or truck, I have just never seen anyone at a local show who has had it done that I could talk to about their experiece with it.

I have a clear bra on a few vehicles and a total nose on my GTS.
It seems to work. I am by no means a wash n wax whacko.
The film doesn't seem to have that same shine as paint but I haven't put any real effort into making it so either.
