Well, Herman I hope to see you again soon.

Herman, this is a photo (I'm on the left) taken when were at Watkins Glen. You are missed from the Forum and I sincerely hope you will recover completely and be able once again to do the things you love to do. Best wishes,
Val

Herman looks good. He is in good spirits. He is confined to a wheel chair because he has to finish the rehab necessary because of his back operation 6 months ago, and he occasionally has a momentary lapse, but he looking and sounding very good.
I didn't know what to expect when I walked through the doors of the facility. The facility is part of an adult community. People generally move there when they are still capable of independent living or at the beginnings of assisted living. The residents are guaranteed medical care as the need arises for the rest of their lives. It is a new community and it is very nice looking. Herman and Joan have sold their house outside of Red Bank and have bought into this community. Joan will be moving in in about 3 to 4 weeks. At that time, Herman may be able to leave the skilled nursing floor and live in their cottage. He will still need some assistance, but he'll be with Joan.
The doctors are still doing tests to find out what these occasional monentary lapses are caused by, and he still needs daily therapy and rehab, but he looks and sound great.
We spent about 1 1/2 hour talking. Herman was his delightful self. We talked about everything from cars to politics to the state of the world. I told him that he has to start posting again because without him to compare to the kids in S2000Talk think I'm an old man. We had a few laughs about that.
I gave him everyone's regards and left a copy of both threads with him. He was delighted. He's going to read both. He's soon (as soon as his grandson sets up his notebook computer) going to try to get back on line. His family bought him an iPad and aside from the normal grumbles that it's a mac and not Windows and he can't get used to it, he's enjoying reading the Times and other things on it.
I'm sure he'd love to hear from you. Lainey has his cell phone number. You might want to send her a pm for it. Give him a call if you have a chance. The hours pass very slowly in the skilled nursing section.
I go to Freehold almost every week to visit my mother in her nursing home. I'm going to stop in to see Herman again in a few weeks. We both had a nice afternoon.

Rob,
Thanks so much for visiting our friend Herman. I'm glad to hear that he is progressing and is in a place where he is receiving the care he needs. The S2000 gang is so much richer for his presence here. I'll be sure to send him a card as I am now back from my 6,000 mile odyssey.
It is encouraging that he is on the road to recovery.
