OMG What Have We Done??

Lots of pros and LEOs say one of the best deterrents is a dog ( a real dog ) inside or out in position on the property.
Just saw a video of a firefighter's security camera record a front door break-in, small dog notwithstanding, and quickly ransack the place. He watched the burglary live on his phone when he got the alert.

What I am looking at would be a wired POE (power over ethernet) system. I have a Axis camera that I am playing around with now. I still have time to pick out the parts but I will need to be ready to wire in the next month or two.

It's a sad state of affairs when so many feel they need camera's around their house and in their cars. Other than recording the crimes I really have to wonder how effective they are. I think the 160 pound puppy is the answer. My 75 pound dog would just want to be petted.

my pup makes lots of noise, but what folks don't realize is he is excited to get a pat or two just like your's.
still he scares the crap out of folks. He just wants to play, tackle and romp.
He is dangerous, he has a wicked hip check.

I had the sweetest 45lb rescue dog. Possibly a Walker Coon Hound. I woke one night about 2:00 to a nasty growl. Sounded like a German Shepard. It was my dog, front paws on the window sill, very intent and pissed off about something outside in the dark. I stood next to her in the dark and didn't see anything. Was about to tell her to shut up when a sheriff's car slowly came around the corner, shining its spotlight in between the houses looking for someone. If I had been outside and heard the dog I certainly would have moved on!
