Default Olympic Opening Ceremony

Wow, the best opening ceremony I have ever seen. All countries were taken by boat down the Seine river with their athletes and staff on board. Some boats were huge and some were very small (5 athletes). The streets and buildings are filled to capacity. Lady GaGa performed the opening act and sang the song in French She also played the piano. Go USA.

I have not seen it but I did see the BBC headlines that many complained it was the worst opening ceremony ever!

Guess I will have to see it now!

I don't know what BBC place you looked but I totally agree with Ray. My goodness with a non-stop rainfall it was an awesome opening. This the BBC headline.

I hope you know I was not casting disparaging comments to your powers of observation. I had just seen those headlines and went to this site next. I still have not seen it but the other headlines I have seen are glowing. I bet the Chinese were responsible for the negative headlines.

After dinner we shall see.

Who will be watching the breaking competition ?, not something I would ever call a sport but they added it to the olympics now. I am just waiting for Frolf to be added next. The last olympics they added
skateboarding, sport climbing and surfing , seems weird to me.

I seen some bearded women in the fashion show, eek.

That river had some strong wave undulations , I wonder how it will affect the water sports if it remains strong like that. .

Well my wife and I finally watched it tonight. I can see how the ceremony would be panned for those in attendance in Paris. Very boring. This was something designed for people who were in front of media/TVs. Great on the tube, with the USA exception of the terrible NBC coverage. That was the only way to "see" everything. No way would any spectator along the river see anything but the boats and the show designed only for that area.

Frankly, I did not see the point of Snoop Dog and the other filler NBC brought to the table for the Olympics. How many times did we hear "that is sooooo cool" from the commentators on events. I found myself switching servers and watching it with European presenters. It was better even if I did not catch all they said.
