Okee dokee...
1) In a 1976 presidential debate with Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford emphatically stated something that was absolutely false. (he blew it, and everyone knew it!) OOOPS!!!
What did he say?
2) Although he won by a landslide in 1972, Richard Nixon's re-election committee decided not to use the Nixon name in campaign materials. What was their slogan?
2a) Bonus: What was the acronym for that committee?
(The Aussie better not beat you Yanks again on the US history questions, although he's got you on time zones)
Here's a more recent one...
3) Renee Zelweger was unavailable to accept her first Golden Globe Award... why was that?
OK... now for the most obscure question that none of you will get. (a challenge has been issued, but none of us is THAT vintage) All of you sports fans will want to tell someone when you hear the answer...
When Babe Ruth was first traded to the Yankees, they moved him from pitcher to outfield. Consequently, the Bronx team had to demote one of the other outfielders. That outfielder subsequently gave up baseball to become a Hall of Fame legend in another sport.
4) Name the outfielder and the sport he chose after baseball...
West coast signing off...

I don't recall much about Nixon except my contempt for him at the time. On a related note: When I returned from taking my S2K out for a test drive at the dealership, my fiancee remarked, "I haven't seen you smile like that since Nixon died".

Good job all!
I believe President Ford's words were. "There is no Soviet domination in Eastern Europe" (Uh... try telling that to the folks living in Poland or Bulgaria at the time )
Muz was dead on with the Nixon questions, and Renee' was in fact in the ladies room when they called her name for the award. (another Oops)
Now for the big sports question....
It was George Hallas! He quit baseball and started something called the National Football League and a team called the Chicago Bears. (I guess baseball wasn't his sport after all?)
OK now, someone else ask one...

Twiggy (British) was the top model in the 60s (and 70s?) who was so named becasue of her twig-like frame (figure). I'm sure she didn't weigh more than 90 pounds in her day. Her real name is Leslie Hornby. Believe it or not, I used to look just like her (figure-wise).

Can anyone name all the actors who have played James Bond? (TV and film... it's not as easy as it sounds)

George Lazenby
Roger Moore
Timothy Dalton
Pierce Brosnan
I have no idea who played him on TV.
