Okay, I got it, though I had to use the internet because I had to see if it was a mammal because it lays eggs.

Right?

No. Technically speaking, the dugong is a member of the manatee group - Order Sirenia.

No shiny new quarter for you. The platypus isn't an exclusively marine mammal. Give up yet?

I do, but let's hope Rob or some other participant can come up with it.

Where are they found?

I can't give any hints without giving the answer away, but you'll kick yourself when I tell you what it is.

C'mon, Rob! You've gotta do better than that! There's a shiny new quarter at stake here!

It's probably a Texas or Florida state quarter too.

Okay, while on the subject of coinage.....

On every cent, at the base of the bust of Lincoln are three initials. What are they, what do they stand for, why are they there and finally, what important change was made in 1909 which made some of that years cents very valuable?

Well that's it from here....

Victor David Brenner

The designer (of the obverse, and the original "wheat" reverse)

His initials used to be on the back below the wheat wreath, but Teddy R. thought it was too prominent a display of the designer's initials and had it changed mid-year.

(Teddy also tried to remove the motto "In God We Trust" from coinange in 1907, but was overruled shortly afterwards.)
