ok back to work
ok patty, I'll make it formal.
since I passed my drug test and apparently they didn't find any bodies they could tie back to me during the background check, it's back to work on Monday.
It'll be at one of the primes in DOD and I'll say no more on that.
most will understand why.
and yup it seems like it will be a good fit.
I've been out since Spring fling last year so it's been a long stretch.
it'll be interesting to be a cube denizen again. it been many years since I worked a 'normal' job.
looking back, it is interesting how different employers hire.
some are looking for a very narrowly defined specialist.
I'm a generalist who can do everything but haven't spent years upon years doing the exact same thing.
My new employer is delighted with my mix since they now have a utility infielder who can play outfield and pitch.
On the flip side it took forever to actually get hired.
The hiring process started in early January.
I'll be an interesting statistic.
My benefits run out this week, so I'll disappear from the governments system although I won't be a discouraged worker.
A cynical person would say that I was milking the system.
A quick review of my bank accounts would indicate the contrary, I love trying to live on 25% of my normal income.
and as for the honey-do list.
since #2 is graduating this means a party, so all of those little things have to be done.
I have deck stairs I have to finish for starters.
the downside of being an engineer is things need to be done correctly which can be a stumbling block to starting.
So I'll miss spring fling and the dragon ....C'est la vie.
On the plus side the commute to work is all back roads

I think you should have told them that you had already made plans for May 8 and would need that day off as part of your acceptance conditions.
Congrats once again. We working stiffs love company.

Congrats! Did you have to get a security clearance for your job? Those are taking months and months to get. It's a mess.
