It was on the wall. I didn't see how it was supported.

Ours was a pretty "classic" Egyptian Voyage...probably the same things that someone saw in the 40s or 50s. The stuff that's 3500 and more years old stays the same....just suffers from encroaching urban sprawl of this proud but dusty and dry land. Counting our initial week in London, we took 9 separate flight segments...resulting in a little jet fatigue.

Here's a hint of our first two days....view from our 19th floor suite in the Rameses II Hilton...looking towards the Pyramids (could SEE a tip when it was clear). Boats on the Nile very with bright colored lights; continual beeping of horns below in little cars.

Our first full day included a morning at the famous (no a/c!) Egyptian Museum, followed by a 45 minute drive to Giza and the main attraction

On Monday 11-15 we flew to Aswan; checked out the high dam...holding back 500km long Lake Nasser to the south

...and had our first of many Temple Tours...easy bus ride nearby;

....and then boarded our river cruise boat in the afternoon. We had time to relax and get oriented to the boat....3 decks; about 150 passengers and crew of 70.

On Tuesday, we took an optional excursion to the famous Abu Simbel temple, which was relocated piece-by-piece to a new site to avoid being flooded when the Aswan dam was constructed; quite an amazing feat of engineering to make it appear integral with a man-made mountain!

...and some local dudes in GPW robes This is typical dress for males in the Nubian south of Egypt. At this location we were only 25 km from Sudan...

(to be continued....northbound river cruise next....life along the Nile....longest river in the world IIRC)

Very cool so far Jerry! The sense of history there is so amazing. I hope I can get there someday.
