We truly live in a magnificent, beautiful, picturesque, and big country! I feel very fortunate to have been able to make this trip. See my "Another Road to Vegas" thread for more pics.
BIG is one of the key words. Over the years I have been fortunate to have traveled for business quite a bit. One of the things that I find interesting is that many European's that I have spoken with do not grasp just how large the U.S.A is. I find this particularly interesting as all one has to do is look at a globe to understand the relative size of countries and distance.
I am been amazed on several occasions in conversations with people in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and even Germany and the Netherlands when engaged in conversations about the time it takes to fly from country to country in Europe versus city to city in the U.S.A.. For example: In less time than it takes to fly from Washington DC to Miami, Fl One can fly from Budapest, Hungary and fly over 1/2 of Hungary, and pass over either Slovakia (or part of Austria, depending on which Jet Way is used) The Czech Republic and/ or Germany and perhaps even over Luxembourg to reach Brussels. In other words fly through five countries which is the equivalent of flying half way down the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S.A.. I have seen people's jaw's drop when I explain that a coast to coast flight in the U.S. takes about five and half hours and that to fly from Washington, DC to Honolulu is an eleven hour flight they are bewildered.

[SIZE=7]Here are two photos of the sunset yesterday from my bedroom deck. It was super clear and I could see Catalina Island out in the Pacific along with some oil platforms.
Thanks for posting those amazing pictures.
Back in the early part of the eighties when we lived in Huntington Beach it was a fairly rare day that one could see Catalina Island.
I can't quite make up my mind if I like the song or the salad dressing better?

^ Matt, I don't know about the song or salad dressing. And I never saw Catalina Island before I moved here on 3-1-2007. It makes it okay, to see it on a clear day, since I miss the wide open space of Acton, with no traffic or traffic lights, and pitch black skies. Well, I guess after 2+ years, I've gotten over it, finally.

Took a walk in the woods with the grandkids today. GORGEOUS November day. We were in there for about an hour. Ryan really got into it. Ally was not quite as excited about the trek.
Reflections in the pond
At the pond
A neighbor's tree. Nice color...most of the trees have lost their leaves already.

Well it is Saturday and the weather here was pretty spectacular for the 13th of November. Sunny, clear and in the mid 60's. I went to the BK drive in (perhaps for the last time this year depending on the weather). Not that many cars there but a couple worth taking pictures of that I had not seen before.
First off, it is not often that one sees a pink hot rod.
This Camaro was VERY nicely done. I am sorry that I did not take another few pictures of it's cockpit or how nicely the flawless black paint was.
The person with the 58 Lister Jag / C4 chassis and drive chain was there and I spent some more time talking with him about what a work in progress this vehicle still is. He needs to improve the aero package on it to make it more stable at speed. He also has some cooling issues under the hood due to the way the air flows in a pocket circulating hot air forward into what is suppose to be a cold air intake in front of the radiator that is sucking hot air from around the engine compartment.
