A few pics from the Queen Mary that I took last Sunday in Long Beach:
These 2 fish are swimming in the English Channel, when suddenly, a huge shadow passes overhead, startling one of the fish. He exclaims: "What the heck was THAT?" The other fish looks calmly up at the now receding shadow, and remarks, "Oh, that's just Queen Mary's bottom."
The first fish shakes his head and says "May heaven help the King!"

It brought back a few fond memories of the three years that we lived in Southern California, as we have toured the Queen Mary and have had brunch there.
The ship has an amazing history, which I am fairly certain that relatively few people know. With the exception of all the troops that were transported on her during WWII.
IMHO that is one of the things that the all volunteer force has divorced the American public from. Today, less than three percent of the American population is in the Armed Forces (please correct me if I am wrong with that number, as it was the last number that I heard). Therefore unlike WWII where many families had someone serving in the military the thought of turning a modern cruise ship into a troop transport vessel is not only unthinkable but virtually impossible as most cruise ships have foreign registry to skirt labor and tax laws.
