Those are Florida Sandhill cranes. They hang out in my front yard also. They can make quite a racket.
Rori had some in her yard that would come "knock" on the front door.

Neat. I see a solid white species when I ride my bike along the Aliso Creek bike path. Love to see them.

I have always had a bit of an issue with the state's legal requirement to display a front license plate. It is maintained primarily to placate the toll road fee enforcers. Anyway I haven't had the plate mounted in front for a long time -- since right after I installed the supercharger. I need the air flow to be unobstructed. I bought a mount that slides under the front bumper when you want the plate to disappear temporarily (at the track), but the bumper is too low and the mount scrapes on the driveway when I enter and leave. So I decided to try mounting the plate on the tow hook fastener. I think it will work pretty well. It is solid with no vibration, and it easily removes (one bolt) in a quick sec. It looks a bit dorky, but I don't like the looks of it mounted in the center either.

No ticket for you!

How much is a no plate ticket offense? We've never displayed ours, knock wood, never been an an issue, even when someone (not me) was stopped for driving too fast.

We still have some older plates in the state (green and white), I have one on my Jeep, those were issued singly. Newer plates, (red and white) require two.............supposedly.

I think they recently raised the amount of the no-front-plate fine to $200 in TX. I have never had any trouble, but several S drivers in the Houston-Austin region have gotten cited recently.

I've always had the front plate on my S but never on my NSX. Got two tickets in the '05 S (speeding: Mississippi and in So Cal) and none in the NSX (no bracket for a front plate). I think it's a "Fix-it" ticket in Cali. I don't know about a fine.
