It is fun, Patty. Most of the reviews on the lens are very positive. It's a bit heavy but very versatile if you don't have the $$ for lots of lenses or just don't want to have to changes lenses all the time.

I'm tempted to head into the woods across the street and see if I can see anything of interest. There isn't much daylight left and I might spot something that appeals to me, BUT it's cold out....maybe tomorrow before company comes or on Sunday. It might be warmer then.

It's a lot colder at my daughter's in Vacaville than it is at my house but she isn't a data puke like me so she doesn't own an outside thermometer. I was told it's 80* at home today.

I look forward to your photos, Lainey, as you play with your new lens.

We have an old outside thermometer, but mostly I rely on the computer. The "gadget" on the desk top of my netbook tells me it's 34 degrees out. I was out earlier and it was cold. I don't like cold.....

I had to have the ac on today. It was very warm. I'm glad for the warmth although it is weird for me having come from a much cooler climate to be celebrating Christmas with impatiens still blooming outside.

We had lots of rain today. It just ended with this incredible rainbow outside. The closest and biggest I've seen here. It's a double with the fainter one to the right. Could be a triple or quadruple, since I see what look like two more on the left. Not a great pic, but you get the idea! We get a lot, since the weather mostly moves northeast and the sun sets behind in the west.

A beautiful rainbow, Deb! I spent some time Christmas Day watching the birds at my feeders just outside my window. I especially enjoyed this little guy:

I've had a zillion Christmas cacti over the years and managed to kill them all off and never got beautiful blooms. Last year my hairdresser gave me a tiny little one for Christmas and I just sat it outside all year. It rewarded me with pretty blooms that opened up just before Christmas:

Nice pics, Val! I have two Christmas cacti and neither one gets lots of blooms. A few - both are pink. Red is pretty, too.
