Hit a local nature preserve today, walked for an hour, woods were kind of boring, trees still kind of bare. Headed back to the car, and hit the road. One the way out, we realize the trail we really wanted was across the street. I had read of old farms, farm implements, etc, and we saw none of that on our walk. But we were getting tired, wanted to eat lunch, take a break and move on. So we did. We'll go back there another day.

No prize winning pictures today but here's a few.

These are from an old farm that is now preservation land. Our second stop after eating lunch.

Weed/flower growing near old rock wall. I kind of liked the way the light is on the flower.

Took these with the zoom from a little bridge on a bike path. Nice house, but the area will look so much nicer when the marsh grass greens up.




Heading back to the car, we noticed how these vines are choking the trees. I think vines, I think green leafy stuff, not vines which are like this!

Crappy phone pics, but still worth it

I work downtown, Rochester, NY, in an area called High Falls
The Genesee River is 1-block away from our building and the falls itself is like a block and a half away

Lots of crap in the river this year because it has gotten so high up onto the banks where it snakes through the country upstream



It’s an angry brown river, honestly, it was a bit intimidating standing here…


What amazing power!

 

Amazing...the flooding along the Mississippi and its tributaries is just awful. I think it's the worst since something like 1927.

 

Flowers, runners, rivers, all good stuff.

 

Spring has sprung!

Thanks, Patty. The tulip pics were taken with my "walking around lens." I like those. I tried taking the tulip pics with my zoom, but with no image stabilizer, I had camera shake and the pics were out of focus a bit, so I changed the lens. I was able to brace my arms on the deck railing lens for the pic of the cherry tree bloom.

I got a bit lucky with the bunny shot.

I am learning what works and what doesn't (for me) and I think that's a good thing.

On, the first cherry blooms pic, I used the auto setting. This one (also taken with the zoom)I used the AV setting. Still want to learn more...


One more tulip pic. I think I like this one with the two flowers better, a bit out of focus at the bottom of the bloom though.


Rick thought the purple tulip pic might look better with less blurred background. Should have taken the shot both ways. Forget to do that sometimes. I do tend to blue the background more with pics taken in the yard as there is "stuff" like a shed, or compost bin that can end up in the pics.
