Odds and Ends Vintage Photos XI

Took a ride to Bourne National Cemetery today. They place wreaths on the graves there. It's not a dramatic as Arlington as there are not white headstones, just makers. So green wreaths against green grass didn't have much drama. The snow added a bit and shallow depth of field gave me a few preferred photos. Many thanks to the people who brave the cold to do this yearly. I have two uncles, two aunts and a cousin at this cemetery.

Red and white roses are gorgeous together. I've bought myself some at Costco in the past.
^From Jan. 5, 2020. My cat, Maury, gets into them. I quit buying them.
^12-24-2020. Maury, early this morning when I was making goodies late at night. Hey, at least he wasn't on the counter, right then, anyway.

^Not a recent photo (summer?) but these are some of the Denver Zoo orangutans.
I wanted to share this although it's not a photo. As you all most likely know, my daughter is a zookeeper at the Denver Zoo. They recently lost their queen orangutan, Nias, unexpectedly. My daughter worked with her and told me about her death. She posted this on her Facebook page and I finally read it today. Wow! I had no idea how human like orangutans are. Christa loves working with primates and them, especially.
Heartbroken. I am so thankful for the time I was able to spend working with Nias before she was stolen away from us. Most people don't understand what it's like for zookeepers to lose one of their animals, but the tribute in this link (written by my amazing co-worker) will give you a glimpse into the devastation we feel. We spend more time with the animals at the zoo than we do our own families, and so they become our 2nd family.
"My Heart Animal", Nias by Great Apes Keeper Cindy Cossaboon.

So I've posted many pics of the woods behind my house and the deer. Today, something catches my eye. It's a giraffe - a frickin giraffe... Oh no... it's not. Sorry.
It's a fox. I've seen one back there before, and they're very skittish, unlike the deer. So I'm watching and its moving around pretty quickly. Don't even have time to grab the phone or iPad and he's 30 yards in. Then I look and it's at the edge, then gone again. It does look healthy. The one (same/different?) I've seen in the past has been scrawny, this one isn't. So, I'll now spend the morning watching my periphery to catch it again and be ready.

We will be waiting for fox pics. Last year I shared this photo on New Year's Eve. Looking back 2020 did not deserve to be rung in in such grand style. As they say, hindsight is 2020. May 2021 be better for all
