Grasshoppers are non stop this year! We keep getting thundershowers almost every day and I think the moisture and happy plants are keeping them well fed.

^8-6-2023. Afternoon thundershowers again, with hail today.

^8-5-2023. I posted this photo already but have a story that goes with it. As you all know, I take lots of photos. I like to see the changes at this small swim beach on Lake Loveland. Lake Loveland is a small lake and only the property owners who live on the lake are allowed to go in the water at all, except for this one little spot. Right now the water level is still high and the beach area is popular. I rode here after going to the post office. I was just standing there next to my ElliptiGO , wearing my helmet and bright pink top, and a 37 year-old man walked up to me and just stood there. I figured he was going to ask about the bike since it is a conversation starter and I had already talked to two different people about it when I stopped at the post office. The man, in his Ninja Turtle t-shirt, asked me if I had kids on the beach. I said, "No". He said that he was uncomfortable with me taking photos. You know, I look so much like a child molester or a human trafficker. I was highly insulted! I told him I take lots of photos and was taking a picture of the swim beach. I told him I had photos from the same spot when there was no water there and when it was even fuller last month. He said he knew I was a woman but even women can do things to kids. I told him I had a daughter and son, 37 and almost 36, and a grandson with another on the way. I told him I was from California where it doesn't freeze and that I love the changes in Colorado. He started to relax. I asked him if he had kids on the beach and he said yes. He evidently has 6 kids, counting his step kids. He's from Minnesota and the same age as my daughter. He finally walked down to the beach and I started talking to another man who wanted to know how much the ElliptiGO costs. Some people need to quit worrying so damn much!
^8-5-2023. Devil's Backbone, 4 miles from home. The clouds were building. My next stop after Lake Loveland.
^8-5-2023. I took this when I got done with my 20 mile ride yesterday at 3:24 pm, I just beat the rain. In 6 minutes it was pouring.

Patty I just read a post this morning from a young man who is always posting pictures of landscapes and other pretty things and he just went through the same thing. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be much trust left in the world.

Sorry to hear about that encounter, Patricia. Sadly, it's not all that uncommon for parents to feel uncomfortable these days if they see "strangers" taking photographs when their kids may be in the photo. I have the feeling my nephew and/or his wife would have reacted the same way. You certainly don't look like a creep, but you could be a creep in disguise.

Patricia, I wouldn't be too burned up over the guy's concerns. I doubt most child molesters or human traffickers look like child molesters or human traffickers.
Is the guy worried about the wrong stuff? Sure. But most of us are fairly weak at risk assessment in our daily lives, as we fret over very low risk possibilities while overlooking real threats.
With a son who has requested we never post pictures of our grandsons on the Internet, I kind of get the guy's paranoia. I hate that I can't post cute pics of Corbin and Ethan here but I will continue to respect my son's wishes.

Patricia you are more patient than I. I would have told him to mind his own damn business. I'll take pictures of anything I want and I don't need to explain it or justify it to anyone.
Mike, sorry to hear of your son's paranoia. I would like to see your grandkids. As you've seen I post pictures of mine all the time but then again after hanging out here since 2001 I don't worry about people lurking in the Vintage sub-set of a 20+ year old car site.
Youngest grand daughter competed in her first tournament. She broke her board in 3 pieces and tied for first and came in third with sword sparring.
