Bought a new camera and tried it out today on a Caracara. We took a back way through the Everglades (Snake Road) to Naples. It's flat curvy and empty. Spotted a Caracara along the road and turned around to get a picture. The Caracara took off and all I had was couple fast shots at it's departure. My new camera is a full frame Nikon. I shot several pics in desperation. Amazingly I was far away but the density it shoots with allowed me to crop it and still have something.

I was shooting with a Nikor 50X300 on it using a lens adapter so it would fit on the z7. I took my D5100 and stuck it on my Celestron C90. Haven't had time to play with it at distance yet. We've been really busy with Ian recovery. I haven't had much play time lately. We had driven over to the E coast to pick up some fixtures and on a wild hair returned the back way. Lucky I had it in with us. That was 3rd Caracara I have ever seen down here. They will run a rabbit down. Cool bird.
It will take awhile to learn the new one. It has over 497 af points and you can change them on the fly.
