Warmer away from the coast. So we left our area, took the S2000, top down and headed north to the blue heron rookery in the woods. Over 3 miles of walking, over 8K steps and according to the fitbit and iphone 15+ flights of stairs, while lugging camera and zoom. Worth it! Though there were not as many occupied nests as last year and babies haven't made an appearance, I got a couple shots that were decent enough to crop down. Mating season, these guys aren't exactly gentle. Click for sharper view

Thanks, folks. Sue, I only brought one camera today, but yes, Rick has carried the other one at times. The only extra thing I take is a battery and a memory card in a little bag, which fits in my pocket.
These woods have more ups and downs, but at times we could get right near the water/pond for a better view. One knee is twinging a bit with some of these walks in the woods, hmmmm

Need pics! Is it easy to access? At this site, you can see the rookery/nests from one side of a pond, but the view is much closer on the other side. So we walked around the pond. The light was better on the side with the closer view as well. Something to keep in mind as far as time of day when we go again looking for the babies.
