That pic does make it look closer than it actually was, Wingtip was no closer than 100 meters from any structure according to an RAAF spokesperson. Still pretty close and telephoto shots make it look even closer. There was also an RAAF fighter doing the same thing at the festival.

Returned from Colorado’s "High Country" a few days ago. Lots of changing colors (yellow mostly, with a few reds thrown in) made the journey very pleasurable. Taken from Colorado’s Independence Pass and Snowmass areas.

I know some folks who seal them, frame them and display them. How about displaying them in the garage? So much work to just take apart and put back into a box.

Beautiful, Gary! I went back to the little nature trail today, and yesterday. No more butterflies, today. Yesterday there were fewer than earlier in the week. I also need to mention that some of them are Viceroy butterflies, not monarchs. They have that little black vein towards the edge of the wing.
