9-30-2019.
I drove about 30 miles up to Estes Park, Colorado this afternoon. I wanted to check out a trailhead to hike to Mill Lake but discovered I would have to pay the entrance fee to Rocky Mountain National Park just to go look at the area. Cheap me did a u-turn. I spent the money on Myer's rum instead when I got back to Loveland. Anyway it was too late in the day to go go for the hike to the lake but I still may try to do it before it gets too cold this year. I saw a picture of Mill Lake on a calendar and it looks like something I really want to see and hike to considering it's within an hour of my house. This week is shot with plans but I hope to go again next week.
Oh, and the photos above! In Estes Park there are rutting elk with their harems. I had hoped just to see elk but I ended up seeing this one male with his little harem and since it's such a common thing up there this time of year they even have flag people on the highway to stop cars and then to let cars go so people don't get hurt and the elk don't get hurt. I was so glad to get to see it. The bull elk bugled a couple of times and and chased his females when he wanted them to move.

Estes Park is beautiful country, that's for sure. One of our best vacations ever back in 2011. I could post dozens and dozens of great photos from that area but these will have to do.
