It does indeed, Gene. Each spring in the early 2000’s I entered bicycle races that were launched from Deer Trail. There was always a lot of wind, combated by an extremely high cycling powers over the rolling hills of Eastern Colorado.
Your parents and others must have been extremely hardy individuals to endure the harsh climate.
In the event you missed it, here’s a night photo taken a few years ago about 5 miles east of Deer Trail, CO.

I believe you did.....A goal was to get out more often when the light is optimum or to become creative.......not there yet. Forget getting up for sunrise photos, sun is rising too early at the moment. Sunset, we do venture out, and after that, I don't think too much of night time photography opportunities.
Meanwhile, I end up going out when the light is harsh.....

I still have the bird fascination going. Just love these graceful creatures....Also a stop at a local park to find the water lily.
Great Egret - I have learned the snowy egret is a bit smaller with a black bill.
Pretty in pink. I don't usually center the subject but when cropping, this looked best.
