Nice pics! I love to go anywhere on the train. Another plug for the narrow-gauge railroad trip from Durango to Silverton (CO). Spectacular!

Nice, Patty!

So what would that area be like in say, late September, early October? Still not sure what we are doing or when.... How long is the train ride?

Yeah. It's typical of the glacial moraine in the area.

^I think Bob's done the train but I haven't. In any case, we both want to do it. Bob lived in Colorado Springs when he was in the Air Force.

^Thank you, Lainey. I love traveling in October, but late October, here. The colors are nothing like back east but we do get yellow aspens and clear blue skies. If I had to recommend an area that I've been to in Cali for late Sept., early Oct., it would be Yosemite and then across Tioga Pass and down to Bodie (a cool ghost town) and Mono Lake. I like scenery, though, so I stay away from cities.

^Yeah, the smooth rocks are part of why I love that place. You don't see those very often. The color and clarity of Lake Tahoe is stunning, too.

Thanks for the info, Patty. Friends want to do Vegas. I like Vegas, but not sure I'm ready to go again when there is so much else to see.

If I had to go to Vegas, I would go to Hoover Dam and Red Rock Canyon, too. They are both within two hours of Vegas. I'm not a Vegas fan.
