Today, our daughter called us and asked us if we would like to go to a nature preserve with her, Josie and Riley. It was kind of last minute, but we thought, "Why not?" (Her husband has been out of town since Friday.)

The kids are participating in a program where you go to each of 7 nature preserves and follow clues to find different items.

Then, afterwards we stopped at Graeter's ice cream. I think today was National Ice Cream Day, and Graeter's was celebrating 143 years, so there were special prices.

It was a fun adventure. Here are a few pictures.

Very pretty photo of the rose, Lainey. We call them "tea roses," too.

Thanks, Sue. Your grandkids look like they had a great time. Your grandson is prepared with two pairs of sunglasses.

Thanks, Val and Lainey.

Yes, Lainey. Riley was discussing his two pair of sunglasses with Dennis and I think that he said that he brought two pair just in case the sun got too bright. He did wear both pair at the same time part of the time.

We had family members who used to regularly rent a cottage on a pond. They were very generous about having visitors. They had a speed boat, and no children, but bought water skis so my cousins, my siblings and I were able to learn to water ski. Our families would pack a picnic or cookout food and we spent many Sunday afternoons on this pond. My own family also rented this cottage for a couple of weeks one year. It was a great old house, great memories every time we go by.

Anyway, there is now a boat ramp on the pond. Rick and I stopped there on Sunday and I snapped a couple sunset pics.

Lainey, your definition of a pond and mine are quite different. To me, a pond is a small body of water that birds might use. When a boat and jet skis can use it, I call it a lake. Nice photos, BTW.
