Funny that you would post your picture. I’ve eaten at the Brown Derby restaurant. It was following a hellacious bicycle race that had 50-60 MPH winds.
As a bit of history -- nearly all downtown Deer Trail was destroyed by a devastating flood in the 1960’s. Most of the town’s center never recovered.
Your parents must have been true survivalist to endure the conditions on Colorado’s arid and windy high country plains.
