It’s a barrel cactus.

I've heard it called that and it would make sense as it looked like a barrel.

We have a local photographer here named Clyde Butcher. He's worth your perusal.

Between skunkworks and lainey (whose pics get better and better and better). I'm in awe.

My own preference on these ^ is the color pic. Really make me think SUMMER!

Last night was a gorgeous summer evening. DRY, not humid. We took the S and made a quick stop at a local car show.

Forever a classic 56 Chevy. Check out the mileage! It took me a long time to distinguish between a '55 Chevy and a '56 Chevy until I finally remembered the side molding goes all the way to the rear on the '56. I AM older than this car. My uncles always had relatively new Chevys. We always watched for the new models. I learned to drive on a '63 Impala.

This was a just for fun pic, the car was leaving, I was trying to grab the name on the car. I like the reflections...can you find Lainey?

The car had a Mercedes hood ornament, but I have no idea what year it might have been.

Lainey another way to distinguish between the 55 and 56 is the front grille. The 55 has what is called an egg grate grille which is distinctive to that year. Out of the tri-five Chevies I always preferred the 56 and for some reason is was the least popular of the 3.

Lainey, It’s definitely a 1956 Chevrolet dashboard. An easy clue is that the 1955 had small Chevrolet bowtie emblems in lieu of the 1956’s long rectangular design. Oh, and the judging from your pic’ the odometer has been set back. Whenever there is a slight horizontal misalignment it’s a clue that the mileage has been tamper with.

Not to be critical, but WOW is there’s some serious orange peel on the black SS’s paint.

Thanks for sharing!

I'll have to peek inside the dash of a '55 next time. The molding is my easiest "tell." I have another pic of the Mercedes at home. If you are serious on the orange peel, I'll have to check it out. Could be the photographer screwed up...
