We were married in Bermuda, and that is the formal dress there. They were Bermuda shorts...just like the locals wear.

FWIW -- some consider wearing tassel loafers with formal attire a faux pas.

Did not see the Fashion Police object, so guess it was OK.

Here is the rest of our wedding party:

The two couples on the right were our table mates on the cruise we took to Bermuda, whom we had never met before. We invited them to the ceremony. I can't remember their names...it was over 10 years ago. The other couple stood up with us. They were (are) friends of ours. We kept the whole thing a secret until we were onboard and underway.

I love secret weddings. Had one myself! No fuss, no muss, little planning and springing the news on family after was a lot of fun.

Too bad too many young people think the marriage is about the wedding. Big weddings are the biggest waste of money in my book, but that's just my opinion. I'm sure wedding planners, function halls, and bridals shops would all disagree. Oh and photographers too!

Actually my one regret is that we didn't plan on some pics. When we went to tell my parents we were married, my Dad dragged out the Polaroid Camera. We took two pics. Here's one of them with another shot just 30 years down the road. (I'm sure I've posted this before)

I agree 1,000%! We have been to at least two "big" weddings in the last few years that ended in pretty quick divorces. I want my wedding gifts back!

We had the ship's photographer take our pictures, "on the side." He was very accommodating.

Why did you keep it a secret? Didn't have your parents permission, Gene?
