Nostradamus
Flatfisher's thread about the dead fish got me to thinking about the seven signs and also the Nostradamus prophecies. Friends and I used to talk about Nostradamus and couldn't really imagine the things he predicted happening, this was before 9/11. We did see floods and fires in the late 90's and desert storm was happening but in this last decade things have escalated. We have had 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and we have the threat of a nuclear attack hanging over our heads among other things. I'm not barricading myself in my house waiting for the end of the world this is just something I think about from time to time and I would like to hear what all your opinions are on Nostradamus.

The "predictions" of Nostradamus have been debunked countless times. His quatrains are so vague that they can be interpreted to mean just about anything a reader desires. I find it interesting that the quatrains are always shoe-horned to fit events after the fact, rather than before - not much prognostication in that. Other than some really crappy French poetry, he doesn't have much to offer.

Well said Dean...That's why they're called post-dictions instead of predictions...no one ever said anything or pointed out a Nostradamus prediction about 9/11 before it actually happened...now if someone did that it would be amazing...

The 9/11 "prediction" wasn't even written by Nostradamus. See http://www.snopes.com/rumors/predict.htm

Nostradamus, the Book of Revelations, the Farmers Almanac... They're all crap. I don't even trust the daily weather forcast.

I like French literature especially by Victor Hugo, one of my all time favorite authors.

Everyone has an end of the world in their life.
It is called death.
Whether the world ends at the same time as an individual's death, really makes no difference to that individual.
