Default Nissan-renault-fiat-chrysler???

FCA ( Fiat-Chrysler America) is proposing a merger with Renault which also has Nissan under it's wing.

Hmm, is this a signal that the end of cars is coming with another wave of consolidation happens?

My strictly personal opinion is this grouping is sort of like skimming the flotsam off of the tank.... but that's just me.

It won't work.

It sort of reminds me of Sears/K-Mart. Two sick companies uniting in hope of a cure.

Exactly. Two different philosophies as well, not a very good match either way you slice it.

I do not follow either company but from my perch the FCA has one winner in their corner - Jeep - and Renault has one winner in their corner in the US market - Nissan Altima.

I thought that the Infiniti line was a part of Nissan and that it was doing better than Nissan. I suspect that the only survivors of this merger in America will be Jeep and perhaps Infiniti. I wonder what happens with the GT-R. It's not a big seller but it's a halo car, if you believe in such things.

Imagine a car with the reliability of a Fiat 500, the styling of a Chrysler 300, the sportiness of a Renault, and the ride of a Nissan Sentra.

Emil, you must remember most Americans wouldn't recognize an alpine if it ran over their foot.
