Default New Vacuum

We are looking for a vacuum that vacuums both carpet and hardwoods without using the lift away canister for cleaning hardwood floors like we have on our current Shark as it is heavy and hurts our backs.

We've had our Sebo X4 for a long time and love it.

You mean one that has a bag you throw away rather than emptying a canister? I don't find the canister heavy on the Shark I bought. It is pretty lightweight. Snaps in and out pretty easily. The vacuum is amazing for a small machine. Really sucks up the dust!

Someone needs to create a vacuum called the black hole, cuz it sucks in everything.

Our vacuum is older and heavy. It has the canister for dumping, and a beater bar with the on/off switch. I've read recently that those are bad for carpets? Another opinion says they clean better.

We only have two area rugs, one long runner and a couple smaller rugs to be vacuumed. I like having attachments available to vacuum furniture clean edges of hardwood on sides of hallway runner, corners, etc.

I would not mind suggestions as well. Don't think I need top of the line.....

We have two vacuums. The one the +1 brought to the marriage is a Shark upright and the one I brought is a Dyson. I love my Dyson but we use the Shark most of the time. The Dyson has so much suction that it is hard to push so it is the Shark by default. It does a decent job by I still like my Dyson!

We have three uprights and two canisters. One size does not fit all. All five are especially good at various things. Of course, all are different brands.

No bag, empty canister. Thanks for the info on the shark. BBB sells them and we have a 20% coupon. We have a local BBB that we will look into.

I bought it on sale from Amazon last Aug. I see it is not available now for whatever reason. There is a switch for power vacuum versus not. On for carpet, off for floors.

We like the Sharks. However the one we have uses a pad for cleaning hardwood floors. It has a suction but dirt particles stick to the pad and fall off. We dont want one with a pad.
