The New Fiat 124 Spider

I think it looks pretty good. I see styling cues from several cars. It looks like it would pass the elbow on the door test.
It's only problem seems to be that it's is a Fiat.

For those of you who want the low-down on this 124 go to link below and jump to the 22 minute mark to hear the Fiat Director talk about it at the LA Car Show yesterday. His discussion lasts 10 minutes.

I too was test driving the Miata when I learned of the S2000. Easy choice. Miata is still a good choice today, that's why Fiat used it for the underpinning of this 124. It would be an easy choice for me; I'd take the new Miata over the 124. Miata, for a small company, puts a lot of money into R&D and goes to good lengths to keep things simple rather than complex in their cars. I might think different after I see a 124 on the street.

Rumor is they're going to offer an Abarth version later on with more power. I quite like the look of it and prefer it over the Miata.

Typical. Fiat takes a perfectly good platform, tarts up the sheetmetal (to very good effect), and then ditches a perfectly good n.a. Japanese engine for something exotic, fragile, and ultimately expensive from Italy. I loved the original 124 but I'll pass on this rendition.

I'd take my 10 year old S2000 over a flock of those any day

I like it. Mrs. GM3 says "It's cute, however we do not need a third convertible."

I walked past a dark metallic blue Jaguar convertible the other day with a dark blue top. THAT I liked.
