Myrtle Beach Fires
#42
I just drove across 31 and you could see the charred remains of the forest. Oddly, many of the trees are still standing, just without the pine needles. You can still smell the smoke and there are small areas still smoldering.
TPhong, go to www.myrtlebeachonline.com and you can see may pics as well as a map of the damaged area.

Cute!!! Granny come on back and I am sure I will be here. Val be glad you are not here right now. When I came thru Murrells Inlet this morning the air did not have that eau du spingtime scent. It was kind of like gas a dentist would give you. The radio said it was from the fire on Sandy Island. They also said alot of the roads were closed this morning. Its been about 4 days so I think it just needs to go away now.

I've noticed an odor down there sometimes early in the morning that is like eau de nasty. If its any worse than that I'm sure I'm happier here. I do miss the beach and Brookgreen very badly. I've told Jim we need to stop worrying about doing stuff to our house up here and adopt the Pawley's Island Motto: Arrogantly Shabby.

That odor is likely the paper plant in Georgetown. It IS nasty. Eu de Poop is what it smells like.

I dont know.. I didnt smell it in Pawleys. Brookgreen is having their big fundraising gala that is held outside this weekend and I would hate to think they would have that smell. Formal wear, jewels and eau du smoke.

Val Murrells Inlet was not much better again today. Pawleys is smelling good. I dont think Brookgreen would cost that much but I think I will check. If you look at Brookgreen Gala it will show what is up for auction.
