Just heard from my neighbors son-in-law who is a firefighter that they are evacuating Brightwater Retirement Village (Granny knows where this is) which is about 4 miles away. Winds have shifted and it is headed in a different direction. Getting too close for comfort. My wife said she could see the water coming out of the choppers.

I have one sister who often stays in the Barefoot landing area. She spoke with a friend who was there yesterday and he was evacuated.

My other sis who lives down by Val's place offered to take him in, but he had made arrangements.

I have some friends leaving tomorrow for a golf vacation in that area....not so sure that will happen.

Very scary stuff.

Stay safe, Carmen!

Not wanting Carmen to have ALL the drama, the Capitol and White House have just been put on alert for an airspace violation. That's all I need right now.

A light aircraft flew into restricted airspace Friday in Washington, prompting brief security alerts at the Capitol and the White House, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

Authorities soon confirmed there was no security threat, and gave an "all-clear."

For a few minutes during the security alert, the Senate adjourned and the White House went into lockdown mode.

The Department of Homeland Security said proper procedures were followed, and the pilot of the light aircraft immediately responded to calls from authorities to leave the restricted airspace.

Two F-16s escorted the Cessna 180 to an airport in Indian Head, Maryland, as two Coast Guard helicopters hovered nearby, FAA officials said.

The FAA said the Cessna had entered restricted airspace from the northeast.

All clear, Granny

Unfortunately, it's idiots like this who give the rest of us law abiding general aviation pilots a bad name. Lainey, you would not believe the mass of information that has been disseminated and pounded into our heads about the restricted airspace around DC, yet one bozo like this, who must not have called for a flight briefing or has been hibernating for the last 8 years, ruins it for us and gives the general (non-pilot) population the wrong ideas.

When I hear or read something like this, I just want to

End of rant. Sorry to get
