I'll post before pics right before demolition.

Dave - the shower will have the same footprint as the tub. Nothing is being changed as far as the plan, because there is no room to change anything! This a small bathroom - basically vanity, toilet and shower.

Are you planning on making the bathroom accessible for seniors (IE grab bars, possibly a seat in the shower, etc?)

*My parents are starting to plan to remodel their house-and these were some of the questions that me & my sister had for them.

I'm still thinking about a grab bar. They make some now that look more stylish and less like something for seniors. I also would like a seat, but it may not work with the small footprint. I told my parents that the only way they could stay in their house was to put grab bars in the bathrooms. They did.

Good luck on the remodel

Are you basically stripping down to the wall studs?

Ms. P. I admire your willingness to put up with the ordeal of renovation. I'm making do with 20+ year old stuff and am happy whenever the commode flushes. Someday I'll face up to all the things we need to do to make our home more modern and then we'll move.

^ This renovation will be a piece of cake compared to the kitchen. I want to enjoy it for the years we will be living here (maybe permanently), and it makes more sense for me to put money into the condo than the lousy stock market. A very good investment.

Not stripping down to the studs, unless it's necessary. I think the drywall, for the most part, is in good shape. There will be additional plumbing in the ceiling to accommodate the rain head, but that's pretty much it. Except for cutting out a piece near the floor by the toilet to put in a shut-off valve with door access.

Val!

We re-did our only bathroom, and lived in the Residence Inn (for the second time) for about five days. I told the contractor I'd come home when I could shower.

Deb, keep us posted.
