I got back to the office from the drive, and saw that I had a few minutes so I fired up Word and the words just flowed. I tend to get involved in what I am passionate about, and driving this car is one of those things. I rarely have the radio on, I much prefer to listen to the car's own music.
After I had finished, I pondered whether or not to share it here, as I had already posted impressions of a drive. I figured adding it to the motoring thead would be ok.

Allegory: 1 a: the expression by means of symbolic fictional figures and actions of truthsor generalizations about human existense. b. an instance (as in a story or painting) of such expression. 2: A symbolic representation
Analogy: 1: inference that if two or more things agree with one another in some respects they will probably agree in others. 2: resemblance in some particulars between things otherwise unlike: Similarity 3: Correspondence between the members of pairs or sets of linguistic forms that serves as a basis for the creation of another form
You be the judge as to which word best applies.
What ever word fits Ms Perky is right that Tom has a gift for story telling.

However in the spirit of capturing the essence of "motoring" I will explain it this way:
As my S2000 is my daily driver, "motoring" is the reason that my office is eighteen miles away from home in the morning and twenty-seven miles away in the afternoon. It is why the supermarket that is two and one half miles away takes me almost five miles to get there!

In honor of this thread, Jerry (pas2k) sent me this. It is the sales brochure for the MINI. It looks like they've just got what we already knew. Do you think that they really understand motoring?
An aside to all of this is that next year when my oldest gets his license and I give him my 4Runner we are probably going to buy a MINI. Liz would like it for running around town, and I'll use her TL for my everyday driver.

I just took the most magnificent 30 minute, 22*F, drive to nowhere. I've been at my desk all day and I just wanted to get out and go.
It reminded me of this thread, so I thought that I'd bring it back to see if anyone wanted to add any motoring stories of their own.
Many members have contributed great prose to this thread. I hope we get some more.
