No. I don't want him to move too fast. It might scare him.

I hate those things. Much easier to just pick up the phone and wait for "Number ple-ase"

FWIIW: Living in Northern Virginia (Metro DC area), where traffic congestion is a major issue very few vehicles have manual transmissions. Furthermore, with the many hybrids, cars with CVT's and the abundance of Tesla's in the area, I really have to watch out when driving our Honda Fit Sport with a five speed transmission when starting out after a green light. As the Fit cannot make it across an entire intersection before having to shift into second gear, I almost get rear ended a couple of times a week, as the vehicle behind me do not anticipate my having to shift as their CVT or electric vehicle is in constant acceleration mode. I often see in the mirror that the vehicle behind me has had to brake to avoid hitting me (as well as the surprised look on the driver's face).

Watch any of the early 1950s YouTube car commercials stressing how easy it is to for women to drive automatic transmission cars -- yep, women. These are, after all 1950s ads and the women all wear dresses and pearl necklaces when shopping. BTW, US tanks and other armored vehicles have had automatics since the same time era. Much more effective as it lets the driver concentrate of important tasks just as it does in automobiles. "Fun" is not a task.

I don't mind renting manual transmissions where they drive on the proper (right) side of the road but in other places like the UK, Australia, and Japan the gear patterns are just too confusing and backwards. In France a couple of years ago my daughter called out from the back seat for me to "stop playing" with the gears and just drive the car. She didn't realize it was a manual it was so smooth.

Apparently only when Donna is pulling it with her horse? Gee, I guess that is when it is a one horse power vehicle!

I'm glad I taught my young son to drive stick on our Acura Integra GS-R . None of his friends know how to drive manual trannies, let alone have seen one.

Millennials are going to throw all sorts of markets upside down. Apparently canned tuna sales have tanked because Millennials don't like opening tin cans, lol. They are a very strange breed......

Both my boys had manuals in their first cars and both own a manual equipped vehicle today. My younger son's friends mostly own manuals and probably all of them at least know how to work a three pedal setup.
