Default Microsoft Software Platinum Certification

I use software in my business that utilizes secondary programs that are Microsoft Platinum Certified. Supposedly this means you can integrate anything. Like most Microsoft stuff...it never seems to be what it says it is. I'm in the middle of doing some integration now between several different program vendors. Sometimes to get what I want gets very convoluted as it's not as free form as I think it should be.

What's your opinion of their certification? Does it have value or is it just part of their money machine? I know there's other software out there without the certification that do the same job.

Be nice to save some money.

When I need an application that will play nice with ones I already have, I try to obtain a free trial version so I can get behind the specs and down to the nitty-gritty of what kind of import/export/interface capabilities the app actually has. I thought platinum certification was simply an indication that the software followed the Microsoft rules for the specified Windows OS environment. (A lot of software out there runs fine under windows whatever, but may not do everything the Microsoft way under the covers.)

In my experience Microsoft's certification programs are mostly about marketing and tell the end user next to nothing about compatibility or competence. Can you flesh out the details a bit with regard to what you're trying to accomplish?

I try to use Mike's plan when possible as well. You can't beat hands on for free.

I'm integrating small business software into web and marketing software specific to aparrel and all the other software and automation that it needs to support it. My computer specialist is working it all out and we're progressing slowly but a lot of times it's a very convoluted path toward integration compared to others.

I just got done buying new hardware today. My old ones just fine...but...
you should upgrade .....and so on and so on.

DOS was so easy.

Yea DOS... As I authorized a 12k hardware and software purchase today, with more to come, I thought about DOS.

Hmmm multiple windows running DOS, screw cut and paste, pictures and pretty little graphics. All I need are numbers and text in a database a spreadsheet and a word processor. I could rule the world.

No wonder Bill won't support DOS anymore. Bastard.

Our company has been certified as a partner in several specific MS areas. It is about testing of programmers and in addition you need to show that you have had several successful installations of that specific product

From my perspective its not about the cash but the talent.
