Merry Christmas
#52
I happened upon a 1.5 hour video on YouTube yesterday of Bob Hope's two-week Christmas tour of Vietnam, Thailand, a couple of aircraft carriers, and Guam in 1967. He had Raquel Welch and others with him. It was great and a real walk down memory lane.

Thank's for posting up the Bob Hope visit. I saw the 1969 show, you can't imagine how much his presence met to us GI's. He was a true patriot.
I found this while looking for the 1969 show:

We're having a white Christmas this year in Kentucky. The first one in 8 year's. Not much snow, less than an inch, but at least the ground is white.
...but better to put it here
Manna
Everywhere, everywhere, snow sifting down,
a world becoming white, no more sounds,
no longer possible to find the heart of the day,
the sun is gone, the sky is nowhere, and of all
I wanted in life – so be it – whatever it is
that brought me here, chance, fortune, whatever
blessing each flake of snow is the hint of, I am
grateful, I bear witness, I hold out my arms,
palms up, I know it is impossible to hold
for long what we love of the world, but look
at me, is it foolish, shameful, arrogant to say this,
see how the snow drifts down, look how happy
I am.
